2009

Well, my 2009 triathlon season has come to an end.  I had a blast traveling, hanging out with my triathlon friends from around the country, and making new friends.  I asked my Dad recently how many triathlons have I done.  We counted them all up and here they are listed below!  I can’t believe I have done that many!  My Dad said we are not doing that many next year!!

  2006 2007 2008 2009 Total

October 25th – San Antonio, Texas: Life Time Fitness Kid Triathlon

I did very well at this event!  I finished first overall although the results were unfortunatetly incorrect when they handed out the awards, and they had me down as third.  They did do the right thing, and contacted everyone to let them know the true results.  I did get to meet my favorite triathlete Hunter Kemper!  He was very cool and I really enjoyed hanging out with him!

October 4th – Tucson, Arizona: IronKids Tucson – IronKids National Championships

I finished 2nd at the IronKids National Championships!  I just missed 1st by 0.09 seconds (26:49.41 vs 26:49.50)!  I had a great race, and will try again next year!  Here’s a picture of me and my good buddy Lane.  More pictures to follow!

September 20th – Memphis, Tennessee: 5th Annual Memphis Thunder Racing Kids Tri for Cory

I won the overall award for the Junior Age division!  I beat one of my best friends and rivals by 0.6 seconds!  This was the fourth time I have done this in particular triathlon, the first being when I was seven.  I finished 3rd that year in my age group, when I was 8, I finished 2nd in my age group, when I was 9, I finished 1st in my age group, and finally when I was 10, I won the overall!!

Here’s a picture of me about 5 yards ahead of my friend Jason who I just edged at the finish line.  He is a very fast runner, so I had to keep an eye on him!  We were about 8o yards away from the finish line!

Not a good race for me.  I got sick half way through the swim, and by the time I came back from the bike, I could hardly breath.  I finished the race, but I had to walk the run course.  Sometimes this happens, and you just have to forget about it!!

This was the toughest race ever!  It was very humid and the course was hilly, and my Dad told me Nebraska is flat!  I finished 2nd in my age division.  I beat an 11 year-old, and my Dad and I both got beat by a 13 year-old!  Plus, we forgot our camera, so no pictures yet.  Waiting on a few to be sent to us!

June 20th – Omaha, Nebraska: Life Time Fitness Kid Triathlon

This was cool race!  I finished first overall and made a new friend!  We had to bike through some paths instead of streets.  This is picture of me in my new aero helmet as I am leaving transition:

Logan - Ole Miss

March 8th – Hot Springs, Arkansas: Du it in the Dirt Adult Duathlon

I did OK in this event.  My teammate Stephan did awesome and smoked the run course!  I lost my water bottle after about 2 miles, and I got thirsty!  My Dad tracked me down on the course, and gave me some water to finish up.  I didn’t have the time I wanted, but I had a great time!

I did pretty good for my first  Mountain Bike race.   My Dad and I did a team, and I went first.  I had a flat on the third lap, and my Dad found me out on the trail, and let me use his bike!  I got two full 10 mile laps in!

** – Great event to mention, but due to conflicts, I will not be at the race

The fundraiser shirts are finally here!  As you can see from the shirt, we are traveling to 10 states & 10,000 miles!  All proceeds will go to help Logan get to the Nationals at his top peak condition!

We decided to go with whats called a Vapor shirt over a cotton shirt.  The Vapor shirts will keep you cool when its hot, and warmer when its chilly.  They are bacteria and stain resistant, PLUS they don’t need ironing! These shirts cost $5 more a shirt to make, but they are definitely worth it!

If you look close at the shirt, the biker is actually Logan!  It’s from the picture above of him riding his bike!  Click here to GET THE SHIRT!

A good friend of mine, Scott Mattson, designed the logo on the shirt!  He did an awesome job.  He is a graphics designer and artist, and you can see more of his work on his website:   http://www.mstudioonline.com/
